        Este printre putinele orase-cetate locuite din Europa si singurul conservat in cea mai mare parte dar si locuit din Romania. Datorita arhitecturii sale remarcabile, a pozitiei dominante si a ambiantei geografice, orasul a fost supranumit inca de la sfarsitul secolului al XIX-lea "Perla Transilvaniei". Planul orasului-cetate este caracteristic oraselor germane intemeiate in evul mediu tarziu. Sighisoara are o imagine aparte si datorita faptului ca de secole, în acest burg medieval au convietuit în buna întelegere români, maghiari, sasi si alte nationalitati, care s-au ajutat reciproc, dând nastere unei comunitati multiculturale.

Situandu-se in partea centrala a tarii, distantele pana la principalele localitati de interes economic, administrativ, cultural si turistic nu sunt prea mari: 297 km Bucuresti, 120 km Brasov, 156 km Cluj, 54 km Târgu Mures, 40 km Odorheiu Secuiesc, 90 km Sibiu. Pe directia vest-est Sighisoara este strabatuta de calea ferata electrificata Bucuresti-Brasov-Cluj-Oradea, precum si de soseaua internationala (E60) Bucuresti-Brasov-Tirgu Mures-Cluj-Oradea-Budapesta. Spre nord-est o cale ferata si o sosea leaga Sighisoara de Odorheiu Secuiesc, iar spre sud o alta sosea asigura legatura cu Agnita si de aici cu Fagarasul si  Sibiu.

   Terminology and geographical localization

          The term Transylvania in politico-geografico two distinct accepțiuni: the first refers to a restrictive meaning, just intracarpatică to the region bounded by the Carpathians, Southern Carpathians, and West of the Apuseni Mountains. This region was called in medieval Transylvanian Voivodship (in Latin "the country beyond the forest"), its total surface area measuring approximately 57.000 km ².

            The second meaning of the name refers, by extension, also from Maramureș, Crișana, Szatmár, lands known as Partium, i.e. "parties" of Hungary after 1526 kernel-side of the Transylvanian plateau, with the Principality of Transylvania. It's about Maramureș counties, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Bihor and Arad. The region Partium was even higher. For example, according to the Treaty of Speyer (1570), in Partium was Mr. counties Bihor, Zarand, Közép-Crasna, inside (the country), as well as the counties of Chioar Arad.

Sometimes Transylvania is given a very broad meaning, it is also the territory west of the Carpathians and North of the Southern Carpathians, thus including the Banat. The content of the term fluctuating is explained by the evolution of complex historical and political, in the "erdeuleu" in modern times.Geographically the Area is a high plateau, separated in the South of the country through the Southern Carpathians in Romania and in the East of Moldova through the Carpathians. The area west of Transylvania (Crișana) borders with Hungary. To the North, it borders with Ukraine (Zakarpattia regions – which comprises the northern part of Maramureșului history-and Ivano-Frankivsk). The plateau with heights between 305 and 460 meters is watered by the rivers Mureș, Someș River, tributaries of the Danube, and the Olt River, tributary of the Danube.

      The territory of Transylvania proper is ten counties: Alba, Bistrița-Năsăud, Brașov, Cluj, Covasna, Harghita, Hunedoara, Mureș, Sălaj and Sibiu.

   Historical Population

   The first official census in the County in which he made a distinction between nationalities (a distinction made on the basis of mother tongue) was carried out by austro-Hungarian authorities in 1869. Prior to this year there are only estimates of the proportions of the various ethnicities of Transylvania.         Tourist resorts in Transylvania


Holding of Transylvania, Transylvania, as it is known, is a region with a tumultuous history of the ages, being situated inside the arc of the Carpathians. In its existence, Transylvania, was part of the Roman Empire, the Kingdom of Hungary, Austro-Hungarian Empire, but was also a period in which it was independent under the name of Principality of Transylvania. Holding in its component counties of Alba, Bistrita Nasaud County, Brasov, Cluj, Covasna, Harghita, Hunedoara, Mures, Salaj and Sibiu. In the 1st century until the beginning of the term, the current territory of Transylvania was the political center of the Kingdom of Dacia, Sarmizegetusa Regia, fortress in the mountains Orastiei. Transylvania is named from the Latin Trans Silva, what does the country beyond the forests, due to the dense forests that covered the mountains that surround it.

      Paraul Rece resort is a resort located in the center of general interest throughout the County. It is located at the confluence of the Rasnoava and Meets Little, very close to the Prahova valley, one of the most frequented tourist areas in Romania.                            

      The Resort Village is located in geographically in Harghita County, Tarnavei Valley, at the foot of the mountains, in the Praid depression; – Sovata. This is a balneal situated at an altitude of 580 metres, just 6 km from Sovata, which attract tourists in particular by Salina Praid.


     Rim resort is located in geographically in the Middle Carpathians chain, in the northern part of Harghita County, in a depression intramontane with average height of 880 meters, toured Mizanur N-Borsec and little of its tributaries and surrounded by Mountains, Bistrita Mountains, Calimani Mountains and Ceahlau offers panoramic views of neuitat. 

     Baile Tusnad are located in Harghita County in the southern part of the Ciuc depression, at an altitude of 650 meters, representing one of the most important spas spas in the region of Transylvania and also th throughout the Country.        


                                                              SAINT ANA LAKE

  Touristic resort Bran is located in the Centre of the country, relative in Culoarul Rucar-Bran, old commercial and strategic road between Wallachia and Transylvania, at 24 km from Brasov, between the Bucegi mountains and Piatra Craiului mountains, in the situation called Bran Platform. Together with the localities situated in the nearby Resort Bran is a core of the Romanian tourism, being a resort in full ascent, which promotes both rural tourism and cultural  tours.

Lakes, due to physical-chemical qualities of the waters and of particles as the phenomenon of heliotermie and salinity, presents a particularly therapeutic interest, these waters are chlorinated soda Lakes, iodurat or suflatate.
